Queen Maxima of the Netherlands was pretty in pink as she stepped out with her family to celebrateKing’s Day in Zwolle on Wednesday. She and her three daughters Catharina-Amalia, Alexia and Ariane supported the monarch King Willem-Alexander. The Dutch royals spent the day in the city to mark the national holiday, which is celebrated across the Netherlands in honor of the monarch’s birthday.
The highly-anticipated annual event called Koningsdag (Queen’s Day) gives a chance to the royal family to interact with the public. They participated in the events the city had organized for the day, which included a boat trip, a parade and a sports presentation. The Dutch Royal House shared lots of pictures from the celebrations on its official Twitter.
The public had lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the family, with many wearing orange and waving flags as they walked past. The three princesses seemed to have enjoyed a lot with the closing performance by rapper Typhoon. Princess Alexia, who fractured her leg in a ski accident in February, was seen dancing and clapping along with her family to the music, according to the NL Times.
Till 2013, when Queen Beatrix abdicated in favor of her son, the holiday was known as Queen’s Day and was held on April 30, in honor of her birthday.
The 44-year-old Maxima looked stunning in a silk floral print skirt paired with a pink cardigan. She looked spring ready in the ensemble which is designed by Belgian fashion house Natan, and is a favorite with many European royals.
Maxima accessorized with a couple of bracelets and drop earrings. She completed her look in a pair of pink high heels. Her blonde locks were pulled back and styled into a bun underneath her huge hat. She opted for smoky eye make-up and wore a slick of pink lipgloss.
Later she wrapped up in a black shawl as it grew cold. Her husband Willem-Alexander looked handsome in a blue suit paired with a crisp white shirt, matching tie and white pocket square. The monarch completed his look in a pair of black lace-up shoes.
