BREAKING NEWS: Tribunal Upholds Bello’s Election Again


An election tribunal sitting in Abuja on Tuesday, June 7, ruled dismissed a petition filed by the former governor of Kogi state, Idris Wada. At the ruling today, Justice Halima Mohammed said the 21 days period for the substitution of a candidate do not apply since Yahaya Bello is a member of the APC.



She also noted that Bello came second in the APC’s primary election.Wada had filed a petition against the emergence of Bello as Kogi state governor. In his petition, Wada said the present governor of the state is an interloper who had no business with the election. Bello joined the Kogi state gubernatorial race following the death of the All Progressives Congress party state flag bearer, Abubakar Audu.Audu died on November 21, during an ongoing election exercise.



Immediately after his death, the elector*l body, Independent National Elector*l Commission (INEC),  declared that the election was inconclusive. Also, on Monday, June 6, the same court dismissed a petition filed by James Faleke, the running mate to the late governorship aspirant, Abubakar Audu.
