Manchester United To Pay RECORD-SMASHING £78m For £800k Serie A Star

If Manchester United is to get its priority target in this summer transfer window, Paul Pogba, it must smash British record transfer fee to land the £78million-rated Juventus midfielder.

It is such a turn of fate for Manchester United which cast off Pogba from Old Trafford for a meagre £800,000 in 2012 but now has to pay 100 times that amount to bring him back to the Theatre of Dreams.

Daily Mirror UK reports that Juventus want to start a bidding war for Pogba and believe the France star is worth 100m euros (£78million) which is nearly 100 times the amount of compensation United received from Juventus when Pogba left on a Bosman in 2012, angry at his lack of first-team opportunities under Sir Alex Ferguson.

But the club is prepared to bankroll the deal because Jose Mourinho wants to rebuild United’s midfield around him.

Mourinho is a big admirer of Pogba and tried to sign him last summer for Chelsea, as did Manchester City which refused to pay Juventus’s £71million asking price.

Juve’s chief executive Giuseppe Marotta warned then that Pogba’s price would only increase, saying “in the future, he could be worth more than 100million euros”.
